Farne Islands & Seahouses Photography Workshop
New workshop for 2010! Join Jason Friend on the mainland to explore the coastline and harbour of Seahouses along the Northumberland Coast, before heading to the Farne Islands and a chance to photograph numerous species of sea birds.

We will meet at the entrance to the Seahouses harbour at 11 AM, from where the workshop will commence. The next couple of hours will be spent capturing images of the harbour and surrounding Northumberland Coastline. We will then take a brief break for lunch (please bring your own packed lunch), before boarding the ship for our guided tour to the Farne Islands.

The tour lasts approximately 2 1/2 hours which includes one hour spent on the Inner Farne island where we will get the chance to photograph a number of sea bird species including the delightful Puffins. The tour includes a cruise around all of the Farne Islands, viewing the sea birds on the cliff faces, visiting the Grey Seal colonies and also follows the route Grace Darling and her father took during their heroic rescue in 1838. A full commentary is given en route to the Inner Farne.

This workshop will give you the opportunity to practice your landscape, coastal and wildlife photography. The composition of images will be discussed in addition to the technical requirements for successful landscape and wildlife photography such as the use of filters, the benefits and disadvantages of using a tripod and essential focusing techniques.

Important Information

The workshop fee includes the fee for your tour around the Farne Islands but does not include the National Trust landing fee for the Inner Farne, your transport to the meeting place, car parking, insurance or photographic equipment/materials.
