Dunstanburgh Castle Workshop on the 16th September 2012

Northumberland Photography Workshop

Workshop Overview

Join Jason Friend as he explores the spectacular Northumberland Heritage Coast between the small fishing Village of Craster and the picturesque Embleton Bay, including a visit to the grounds of Dunstanburgh Castle.

This has proved to be a very popular photography workshop over the last few years. However Jason has decided to make this event the last ever Jason Friend photography workshop. Future workshops will be rebranded ‘Photo Hikes’ and will be tailored towards more upland locations, as such this will be the last ever Dunstanburgh Castle workshop.

We will meet at the harbour in Craster at 10AM, from where we will take a gentle walk north along the coast. We will capture images of the Castle from this southerly position before proceeding to within the grounds of the Castle. After a stop for lunch (please bring your own packed lunch) we will continue onwards to Embleton Bay where we will explore the classic northern viewpoints of the Castle. We wil return to Craster via an alternative route slightly inland. The workshop will finish at 4PM.

This workshop will give you the opportunity to practice your architectural and landscape photography along the Northumberland Coast. The composition of images will be discussed in addition to the technical requirements for successful landscape photography such as the use of filters, the benefits and disadvantages of using a tripod and essential focusing techniques.

Participant Comments

A great day with Jason and Simon, both were very helpful and never stopped giving advice. Your technique cannot fail to improve after a day with them. Locations are good too. If you want a day out with your camera to inspire you to improve look no further. I will be back for another day.

Despite the weather, it was an excellent day. I was afraid of getting into something too technical and being out of my depth, it wasn’t the case. Jason took the time to assess my (our) respective level and tailor the day around that. I liked the fact that we moved to different locations to work on different aspect of photography. Jason was on hand to give some helps and guidance without being too technical or too theoretical. Overall an excellent day and really good value for money.
