Destination 2007 - New Zealand

May 04, 2018

As I discussed in my previous blog post, I occasionally like to review my old work to evaluate what worked, what didn’t and what I can do to improve future shots. My style of photography is constantly evolving and I enjoy the process of constantly learning.

Reviewing old images can also be incredibly helpful when planning to return to a location. If you are shooting locally you have the luxury of revisiting locations on a regular basis – This can be extremely helpful for improving your photography. However, this is not quite as simple if your planned location happens to be on the other side of the world!

This collection of images was taken on my second trip to New Zealand back in 2007. By now, digital cameras were the norm and as such these were all captured using a Canon 5D.  Interestingly my style of post-processing changed during this trip mainly due to me starting to use Lightroom on my return to the UK (some of the images were actually processed on the road using Capture One Express and Photoshop). Lightroom was a real eye-opener for me back then and did quite literally change my workflow.

Hopefully you will notice some improvements in my style over the previous images, although I am sure there is still room for improvement on my next trip to the land of the long white cloud.
